Rear end of London - First day in Ipswich

Saturday 4th June

Final day as a tourist in London for this stint and we managed to see St. Paul's Cathedral, Tate Modern, Trafalgar Square, Regent's Canal and Camden Market.
We also had a quick berth up Oxford & Regent Street due to some issues with Amy's new Olympus camera, it was pumping!
St. Paul's Cathedral
Tate Modern

Trafalgar Square
Camden Market
I'm loving the market scene in London, most definitely a recommendation for those traveling through.

Massive day ended with a few beers and some Vietnamese with me old mate Dadsy and his gf Alana. This followed up with a good chat to our AirBnB host who's a filmmaker and has rubbed shoulders with Erick Banner etc. We saw some of his work and it was top shelf!

Today's take homes:
  1. While the tube is an effective transport method, you miss a lot of what goes on above ground. Its also really hot and stuffy. I have really preferred to get around on the bike because you see so much more and you're amongst it!
  2. Tate Modern was pretty interesting and well worth a look, if it wasn't free I don't think we would have gone. St. Paul's Cathedral was really impressive (fun fact, St. Paul's was the tallest building in London from 1710 till the 1960s)
  3. At this time of the year, it's daylight until 9.30pm and up at 4.30am. These long days have rattled me!
  4. We didn't do any of the main attractions as the generally the cost $40AUDea, we would prefer to spend on food or travels further down the track.

Sunday 5th June

Finally some SUN! 9 quid each to take the 1.5hr train ride to Ipswich to our first hosted Workaway stay with John and Patricia.

Shortly after arriving in Ipswich we were picked up by Patricia and taken to their little paradise on an Estate south east of Ipswich near the River Orwell.

I've never seen so much lush green.

This will be home for the next two weeks as we lend a hand around their place in exchange for tucker and board.

We were welcomed via a ripping Sunday roast, Yorkshire pudding and frangipane apple tart!

Looking forward to exploring the area, the countryside and seeing how they go about it outside the major cities.
