Nacton - England (workaway 1)

Since Monday the 6th we've been lending a hand at our first workaway.

A typical day so far:

7.30am - wake up for porridge
8am - walk the dogs
8.30am - discuss the day's tasks & begin tasks
10am - Cuppa, then back to work
12.30pm - Cuppa, then a sanga for lunch.

After lunch we've had the rest of the arvo to do whatever we'd like. The first couple of days we took a kip, and just pottered around. Each night we do something together with John and Trisha whether its watch a movie, go out for tea or to the pub.

Our tasks so far have included mowing around the main estate house, sanding, painting seats and tinkering around in the garden weeding etc.

Cleaning chairs
Remains of 1 of 4 duck decoys.

The main estate house
Down at the banks of the River Orwell - on the estate.

We've been pretty impressed with how easy it has been to settle in, the food has been great and everything is going swimmingly. Our only issue is we didn't pack enough old clothes.... I'm really looking forward to learning more about the Orwell Park Estate and the history of the area. Ipswich, the local main town is populated by over 100,000 people and is around 10km away. Nacton & Levington are two small villages bordering the estate. We've got bikes here to borrow and we'll use these over the next week or so to sus out the area.

Our biggest issue at the moment is with our Olympus DSLR we purchased before leaving Australia has stopped working and won't let us take photos. We are in the process of getting this sorted which will hopefully mean an exchange over the counter for a new camera. All going to plan it will be before the end of the week :)
