Melbourne to London

Coupla tired units
7hr to Singapore, 45min stop over then 14hr to Heathrow on 4hr sleep - shagged, we arrived at the airport 7.30am. No dramas thru customs and onto the Tube.

Pro Tip:
  1. Having an Oyster card prior to arriving in London made the transition from the airport onto the Tube seamless and stress free.
  2. maps.me app with offline maps well and truly saved the day (thanks Jake & Tarn).

We are staying at an AirBnB we organised about 4 months ago close to Shoreditch, and this was easily accessible via a ride on the Piccadilly line from Heathrow into central London, then a short ride on the Central line out to Bethnal Green. Found the accommodation easily (a shared apartment, excellent instructions provided by the host), showered and then headed back out to get our bearings, a sim card, and get thru the jet lag.

We traveled into the city via the Whitechapel station via the District line and visited Kings Cross, then out to Kensington to have a peep at Harrods and the Natural History Museum. Harold's was ok, a lot of staff and product. Natural History Museum wasn't that exciting, however we were zombies at this stage so maybe an unrealistic review.

Key points:
  1. THE TUBE IS AMAZING! So impressed, easy to use, navigate and reasonably priced. Why can't Melbourne PT be this effective?
  2. Londoners drive on LHS of the road, but walk on the RHS of the footpath as well as have "stand on RHS" on all their escalators?
  3. First impressions are that London is it is not as busy as i'd expected...
